The Story of a Blog

The short: My name is Josh, and I’m a geek.
The long: I know there are all these great blogs out there dedicated to teaching us how to become successful bloggers, but they generally lack a compelling story. What do I mean? Well, you can’t go back to their first post and figure out exactly how these blogs became successful. We basically have to accept that because these bloggers are now a household name, they didn’t just get lucky or have a lot of money to invest. I want this blog to be different.
My plan is to scour the web for information on how to become a successful blogger (and hopefully I’ll have some ideas of my own along the way). I’ll then relay that information to you and talk about why I believe that the advice will be helpful to the blog. I’ll also tell you exactly how I put the advice into action on this blog.
At the end of every week I’ll give you a report of my blog traffic and we’ll decide whether the tactics were worth the effort. In the end, hopefully we’ll end up with a trail for future bloggers to follow in order to learn the ins and outs of blogging. In that sense, it’s not my intention to provide you with blog tips or blogging advice — although that may often be the case — but I really want to lay a path that anyone can follow to go from scratch to a successful blog, and I want to do it while being completely open with my you. I guarantee full disclosure. That goes for monetization as well: if I ever make money from this blog, I will let you know exactly how much I am making.
The readers will be absolutely essential to this project, and I hope that you’ll subscribe to the RSS, send me emails, comments, and link the site to cheer me on or give me feedback and advice.
Thanks for reading and let’s start building a blog together.
